Why Do People Lack Confidence
People lack confidence for many reasons. If somebody lacks confidence it simply means there is a part of their life or personality that they don’t like or are even ashamed of. If this part of their life is not resolved it can be a serious detriment to not only their confidence but their life in general. The main problem is most people don’t know why they lack confidence. So they don’t know where to start. In this article I introduce an important concept. Its called the 3 Pillars of Confidence. They are Health, Wealth and Relationships. If any of these areas are lacking then that is the cause of your low confidence.
This pillar can be further broken down into two sub-pillars, your perception of your own body and your body’s actual health. Your body is comprised of natural chemicals which are responsible for keeping you alive. These chemicals are also responsible for every decision you make, every thought and every action you take. That is why it is so important to keep these chemicals in constant balance by having a balanced diet with a good combination of vegetables, meat and carbs. When your health is out of balance it can affect every aspect of your life. To have a healthy mind you must also have a healthy body.
This brings us to the second sub-pillar. If you look in the mirror and you don’t like what you see then this is one of the aspects in your life you should be working on. This one is probably one of the most important ones. Many people fall into the trap of believing that they view themselves as fat or unhealthy because they lack confidence. When in fact if you liked what you saw in the mirror every morning, if you exercised and ate healthier everyday wouldn’t you be more confident? Many positive chemicals are released after a workout and you gain a lot of energy from healthy food. Exercising everyday will motivate you to pursue your goals in life. Exercising and taking care of your body will produce positive chemicals which will give you a more positive outlook in life. If this area in your life is lacking you will simply lack the motivation and willpower to pursue your goals.
Are you unhappy with your finances? Are you living paycheck by paycheck? Do you worry about your financial future? Are you unhappy with your career? These questions are often on the mind of a person whose wealth pillar is not where he or she wants it to be. If you answered yes to any of these questions then this could cause great stress in your daily life. Living everyday with the worry of whether or not you will be able to pay your rent, or whether or not you will be able to feed your child will inevitably impact every other area of your life including your perception of yourself, or in simpler terms – your confidence.
Even if you make good money an important part of this pillar is if you enjoy your career. Many people take jobs they don’t like for the money. They then wonder why they have low confidence. The reason is that they are spending most of their day, every day in an environment that they hate. At the end of each day you should be looking forward to the next day, not dreading the next day. If you cannot afford basic necessities – or even if your at a job you don’t like, you can guarantee that your confidence and your life will suffer with it.
The pillar of relationships refers to both your relationships with friends and family as well as romantic relationships. This pillar is often neglected. The main reason is because society neglects it. As a child most often times we are told to get good grades so we can make a lot of money, Even sometimes were forced to not hang out with our friends just so we can study for a test. Although getting good grades is important many people don’t realize that is just one pillar to great confidence and success. If this pillar is not developed from a young age often times people become shy because they don’t really know how to talk to other people. For me personally this pillar was never developed when I was a child. I’ve always had trouble communicating with people and I had a lot of social anxiety because my parents were also pretty shy. I was a programmer and I also did Mixed Martial Arts so my health and wealth pillars were pretty developed but I have always struggled with relationships. As a result I had to basically figure out how to talk to people and find my own unique personality in order to build my own confidence. If you find that you have trouble making friends and/or if you have trouble with the opposite sex then this may be a pillar you need to work on.
Its extremely important to keep all three of these pillars in perfect balance. If you can keep these three pillars in balance then you will always have that feeling of confidence. In addition, you should also expand on all these areas of your life. This will move you towards your Authentic Self. Not only do we want to be confident but we also want to move towards the best self we can be. I hope this article was of use to you and I hope you start taking action on where your life may be in an imbalance.
Have a great day!
This is a relatively long video about confidence but I think it is an important one to watch, even if you think you are confident.
