How To Live A Positive Life
Positivity is probably the most important thing you can bring in this world. If you don’t have any money or if you don’t have a lot of material possessions. If you are able to stay positive then you are still rich. Failing to remain positive is the cause of much suffering in this world and is even the cause of a lot of failures. Believing in yourself is one of the cornerstones for success as well as confidence. Today I would like to give you some tips on how to live a positive life to help you become successful and achieve the dreams you set out to achieve!
Realize That You Are Not Perfect
It’s easy to focus on the negative when you think there’s something wrong with you. What I often like to tell myself when times are low is that anybody in my shoes would be in the same position. We’re all human after all with the same ability to screw up. That’s what sets us apart from machines. To treat yourself any differently is to ignore this basic characteristic. Expect yourself to make mistakes eventually. When this happens, accept it and move on. It is also important to accept the mistakes of others and not lash out at them for messing up. Realize it happens and show that person that it’s not a big deal. When you lash out at other people you spread negativity and this negativity will inevitably come about into your life. Which brings me to my next point.
Surround Yourself With Positive People
Unfortunately sometimes its just not your fault. If you are constantly being told your not good enough or you can’t do it – by your friends, family or spouse you need to make a change. I am not saying that you should cut off your relations with these people, I would talk to them first. If your friends or loved ones are continually holding you back even after you talk to them then you need to ask yourself if you still want to hang out with people who don’t want to see you succeed. Some people make the mistake of bringing those around them down in order to lift themselves up. Its the hard truth but sometimes we simply grow people out and if you have been hanging out with a friend since childhood it can be close to impossible to make these decisions. You are who you surround yourself with. This is simple fact. Emotions and negative feelings are transferrable through mirror neurons. Have you ever seen a person cry before? Didn’t it make you want to cry? This is how we are able to feel empathy as humans and create bonds with each other. Its all part of being a social race. If you constantly hang out with negative people then subconsciously you are picking up their negativity.
Before I move onto the next tip I want to tell you a quick story. My mother used to have this Asian girl as an intern. She told my mother how she would be forced to give her mother and brothers her entire paycheck every week. You see, her mother wanted her to be a typical house wife – she was very old fashioned. My mother, who had been in the same situation as a child told her to hide part of her paycheck from her own mother. Eventually she got enough money for college. Once she finally had enough she just moved without telling her mother. Her mother has no idea where she went and she doesn’t even talk to her mother anymore. She keeps in touch with my mother which is why I know about this story. I think its an important story because it shows that sometimes even family can be harmful and perhaps you are in a similar situation as this girl.
View Situations In A More Positive Light
Almost every situation can be viewed in a more positive light. Instead of telling yourself you’re not good enough try to find the positive in things. For example, lets say you just got fired from your job. Instead of focusing on whether or not you will find another job (you will) or whether you will be able to pay your bills see it as an opportunity to start anew. You can move to a new city, or you can start your own business. You can do the things you’ve always wanted to do with all your new found free time where your 9-5 job may have been tying you down. Here’s another example. Say you got into a car accident and completely totaled your car. You almost died instead you broke both your legs and got stitches on your head. Instead of focusing on how you almost died focus on how your still alive. Focus on the new appreciation you have on your life. Maybe even focus on all the books you will finally be able to read. I know some of these may seem delusional or even a bit ridiculous and I’m not saying they’re not. But its important to view things in a positive light because worrying about the bills, or your insurance and what hasn’t happened yet doesn’t solve anything. I’m not saying to ignore these things but focus on the positive things and trust yourself that you will figure all your problems out.
I hope these tips help you out the next time life throws a test at you. Just remember no matter how dark it gets, there will always be light at the end of the tunnel.
Have a great day!
