How to find Inner Peace within Yourself
There are many ways in which you can find inner peace within yourself. Actually there are many spiritual ways to find inner peace within yourself. Uh oh, that word. Spirituality. A lot of people, especially in the west avoid spirituality like their new year’s resolutions. But if we really want to find inner peace within ourselves we do need to kick off our shoes sit on a pillow and, you guessed it – Meditate.
I won’t go too in-depth into meditation because I’ve covered it before. Plus, I bet we were all expecting meditation to be on here. Nonetheless it is so important to this topic that it needs to be mentioned. Meditation is the #1 way to find your inner peace because it allows you to be present. It allows you to become aware of your thoughts and completely control them. Most people don’t realize what their thoughts do to them on a daily basis it’s these constant barrage of thoughts that upsets the equilibrium in people’s minds. If you’re a person who has achieved a lot but still can’t seem to find happiness or inner peace you are probably not meditating.
Stop Being Perfect
A lot of our inner conflict comes from our past mistakes or future problems. We beat ourselves up for the past and we are unsure if we can handle the future. Make it a lot easier on yourself and forgive yourself for your past mistakes as well as all future mistakes you will make. Realize that you are only human and you make mistakes. There is nothing wrong with you. In fact mistakes are good because you should be seeing them as a learning experience. You learned what not to do. Try to begin to reframe everything in your life in a more positive light. Instead of focusing on how you messed up focus more on what you got out of it. What did you learn? Dwelling in the past is a common way to disturb the inner peace because we worry about things we cannot change. We are our worst critics. Instead of criticizing yourself just let go.
Change Your Life
Sometimes if you feel your life is so bad or you have little confidence all the meditation in the world won’t help you. Sure, if you get really good at meditation you can probably just meditate all day and be happy and some bald monks in China do this. But if you want to make an impact on society and have your life mean something then you’re going to have to take your life in the direction that you want it to go.
The reason why you don’t have inner peace might be because you know your life is going nowhere and you’re not doing anything to change it. You feel trapped in this life and don’t know what to do. If this is you no matter what rut you’re stuck in I guarantee there is or was another person in your position. Seek help. Find this person or persons. I would recommend figuring out what you want to do with your life and just begin moving your life in that direction. You can start with a simple google search. Picture yourself 10 years in the future and ask yourself whether or not you will be happy if things go the way they go now. If the answer is no then you need to change that. If you don’t you will never find inner peace and your life will just keep getting worse.
